October Billiken Bulletin
Happy October! The semester is flying by and it’s almost time for midterms and Halloween. We hope and desire that your Billiken is starting to feel at home and establishing its community at 博彩网址大全. In this Billiken Bulletin, we will highlight on-campus living and demonstrate how one alumna made a profound difference by giving back to the university, which ultimately impacts our Billikens’ education. Furthermore, we will continue to provide resources to assist you as a family member or guardian in supporting your Billiken as they continue to advocate for themselves during their college journey.
Housing and Residence Life
Adults know conflicts and disagreements are expected even in the strongest relationships. As a parent or family member, you may have heard your student speak about their overall roommate experience, things they do or don’t like about them, and even potential roommate conflicts. While it may feel natural to want to intervene on your student's behalf, this is an excellent opportunity to support your student in learning how to address and resolve conflict independently!
Housing and Residence Life has provided a PDF resource to help Billiken families navigate the roommate experience so students can better transition into and enjoy their on-campus living community.

University Spotlight
Recently, a historic $7.3 million gift to Saint Louis University’s School of Education was made by physician and alumna Virginia (Ginny) Herrmann, M.D., to establish the Herrmann Center for Innovative Catholic Education and support underserved students throughout the St. Louis region.
Herrmann attended 博彩网址大全 for her undergraduate and medical education, after which she completed a fellowship in surgical nutrition at Harvard University. She then returned to St. Louis, first as a faculty at 博彩网址大全 School of Medicine and then as a professor of surgery at Washington University. While at 博彩网址大全, Herrmann served as director of the nutrition support service, director of home health services, co-director of the breast cancer program at Saint Louis University, and vice-chair of the department of surgery. At Washington University School of Medicine, she co-directed the breast surgery program.
Meet the Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards
On behalf of the Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards, we are delighted to welcome you and your family to 博彩网址大全. We know the important roles that parents and family members play in the lives of students and recognize the sacrifices you and your students have made to send your students to their new home away from home.
As a Jesuit university, our office is committed to the human dignity and growth of every person in our campus community. We are here to help support your student’s development and to create a campus environment that reflects the values of Saint Louis University.
The Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards has several goals:
- Assist students in discerning what it means to live in a community among their peers
- Engage students in reflection about their ethical decision-making
- Develop a sense of responsibility and accountability for a student’s actions
- Create a transparent, consistent and equitable system to address violations of our community standards (i.e. Code of Conduct)
To help us achieve these goals, we ask that you take some time to become acquainted with our community standards, found in Section 2.0 of our Student Handbook, which outlines your student’s rights and responsibilities as a student, as well as the University policies that are in place to address conflicts. If you are concerned about a student, we ask that you please submit an incident report so that our team can address your concerns and provide the necessary support.
Our Student Responsibility and Community Standards team works closely with several campus departments, including the Dean of Students Office, to help support students during their time at 博彩网址大全 and has developed several workshops and trainings to help students learn about alcohol, drugs, bystander, and hazing education. We utilize an educational, restorative, and harm-reduction approach to managing conflict.
If you have any questions or concerns or would like additional information about our staff or procedures, we can be reached via email at conduct@36837a.com or by calling the Dean of Students Office at 314-977-9378.
Welcome to 博彩网址大全 and go Billikens!
